Objectified Trailer
This is a new documentary from Gary Hustwik, who can also brought us the film 'Helvetica'. This one really sheds light on what goes on behind the great products that surround us, from research to manufacturing. People seem to take for granted the good design that influences these products, and subsequently our daily lives. I feel that if anything this film will change our perspective on what we buy and why. From the words of the website itself:
Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.
The movie is actually showing only in select locations, and I am glad to hear that one of them is in Columbus OH at the Wexner Center. The film airs May 15 & 16, and following the show Mr. Hustwik himself will be there to answer questions. You can find out more HERE.
