Ralph Lauren - Create your own Polo

For all those southern bells, frat boys, and Kanye imitators, your ultimate polo is finally here, and it involves internet customization. Polo is running a limited campaign until May 17, where customers can make their very own polo shirt over the internet. From the monogram to the colors, anything is fair game. I would love to make my own, however its hard to fork over the $80 for a polo that I could find for a hell of a lot cheaper. Even though it would be fly as hell...

Kanye West - Amazing ft. Young Jeezy

This is the newest video release from Kanye's Album 808s and Heartbreak. Directed by Hype Williams, who also directed Kanye's Heartless video, this one takes a different approach than the rest of the songs on the album. The video was shot in Hawaii, and a helicopter was used to get numerous dramatic shots of the islands and the coastline. It really brings a new meaning to amazing, and I feel that some of the wide panning shots have a metaphorical connection with Kanye's lyric "my reign is as far as your eyes can see".

NIke Lunar Glide Plus

Nike just a this new running shoe earlier this month. The shoe, meant to be a trainer for top athletes, incorporates some new technology that makes it catch the eye of the industry. The midsole incorporates a new type of dynamic support that is lightweight, and actually adapts to the foot during each step providing both stability and cushioning. Also in the shoe are the flywire technology first introduced in the Beijing Olympics which further decreases weight. All this will apparently be under a $100 price tag when they release July 1st. Not to shabby for some extremely well designed, or should I say sexy, shoes. I basically was drooling when I saw them.

Nyle - Let the Beat Build

Nyle "Let The Beat Build" from Nyle on Vimeo.

When I was in NYC a couple weekends ago I met Chadd Harbold, one of the founders of the New York based film production company, Last-Pictures. It was interesting seeing some of the stuff that he has worked on in the past year, including numerous short films, sketches, documentaries, and several music videos. His most recent project was this vid for local rapper, Nyle. The video follows Nyle through one continuous scene, as he takes a Lil' Wayne classic and spices it up with live instruments and stimulating lyrics. No video lip-syncing here ladies and gentlemen. This one is all real.

Home and Housewares Show 2009

Core77 has posted pictures from the international home and houseware show in March. You can check out a full slideshow HERE. Pictured above is a flatbed and 2 slice toaster from Bodum.

Cardboard Furniture

Cardboard furniture set at the International Housewares show. I did a project similar to this in foundations classes, except we could only use one 5' by 5' piece of cardboard. I really like the clever use of paper binding clips, another abundant office product, to help piece together the chair. Now as far as ergonomics are concerned...

Designer Spotlight - Scott Amron

This guy really caught my eye with his very interesting design solutions to problems. His solutions are the kind that make you say..."wow, that is a great freakin' idea. Why didn't I think of that?" This pictures include:

The Brush and Rinse - The picture explains it all. Great idea.

The Cash Money Clip - Why buy a new one, when a dollar will do?

New Soap, Old Bottle - This is a small experimental company he started based on the idea of buying name brand soap and reselling it in recycled and reused common pop bottles. Really don't know how long this will last, because im pretty sure there are clauses that prohibit the reselling of these products...but it is still kills two birds with one stone. Reusing old bottles, as well as limiting the amount of new bottles that go into the landfill.
