The Illist is done for!

It really had a good run. However, it's moved on to a better place now...

IDEO Redesigns the ATM

Two year project in the making from IDEO. The goal? "...was not how to further automate the teller, but rather how to humanize the machine."

The sideways orientation and frosted screen provides more privacy to the user. The touchscreen interface and single slot for receipts, cash, and statements decrease the features while increasing the simplicity.

Hitatchi Product Design Fail

I usually don't do this, but Hitachi needs to be called out. This is probabaly one of the worst visual brand languages of any product series...especially power tools. Really? Green alien look? Who is your target market for these...12 yr old boys? These seriously look like they belong more in a Toys R Us than Lowes. What do you think?

Back Dart = Slim Shirts

The fastest way to a slimmer, more fitting shirt is a back dart stitch. You can see the 2 crescent shaped stitch lines on either side of the back of the shirt. These are designed to draw the outer waist of the shirt in, therefore creating a more fitted pattern, and therefore a more slim looking figure.

Take your dress shirts to a local alteration shop and add back darts. Its the easiest way to increase fit and style. These Italians give a good example.

This is a good comparison picture. Left = Bad. Right = Good.

Try with slim fit pants for a complete look.

Bell & Ross Vintage Watches

What I love most about this is the simplicity of the watch itself. I guess I don't really even want to know how much it costs, but the design is classic and timeless. The other great thing is how the pictures tell a story. They go from setting the scene, to detailing the product, and then showing them both together in context. A very typical way to sell a product, yet these images have the added benefit of calling to an American wartime past when quality reigned, and timepieces had functional beauty.

All the details seem historically accurate...that is except that I am not exactly sure that pilots of B-17 Bombers wore loafers with dress socks...(see last pic).

Kanye West Power at BET Awards

I really don't care if you hate on Kanye. Yes, he does have an ego. Yes he does sometimes make obscene and immature public statements. However, being a fan of his music allows me to bypass his public attitude and enjoy what his talents really are. His beats are amazing, and so are his performances. He really goes above and beyond to try and bring the audience into the experience of his songs. The same goes for his music videos as well. The set for his VH1 Storytellers concert was extremely simple, yet powerful. The full LED lighted background, complete with a simple square light stage really played well with the sound of the music.

VH1 Storytellers: Heartless

Here is his most recent performance for his single, Power. The stage imagery and mountain feel really correlates with the song, and I think makes for a great show. Somehow, the song just wouldn't feel as right on any normal stage.

Miller High Life Redesign

New package design by Landor in San Francisco.

According to them:

"Once the flagship brand for Miller Brewing Company, Miller High Life had over time been repositioned as a below-premium beer that belied both its product quality and rich 100+ year-old heritage. In order to improve consumer perception, we contemporized and better leveraged its revered and iconic brand elements—the Miller High Life Soft Cross and the Girl in the Moon. The new visual identity allows the brand to stretch beyond the below-premium category into a more premium territory that we think positions the brand to reclaim its iconic status."

My response? Stay classy High Life. Stay classy.

Cuffed Pants/Shorts...For All You Haters.

Yes, rolling your pants is in style. If you want, why not try your shorts as well. Hell maybe even your suit (prob better with no socks and slim pants). This look not only helps keep cool in the summer, but also adds a bit of individuality and flair to your outfit. The evidence is clear...and yes I'm talking to you Columbus and Cincinnati, who both seem to be slightly behind and somewhat slow to pick up on this trend.

Graffiti6: Annie Will You Save Me

British duo that I found courtesy of HypeTrak. Blending soulful vocals and pop-like melodies, this had me foot-tapping in seconds. Their Single is set for release July 16.

Electrolux "Vac From the Sea" Campaign

Electrolux has announced a campaign to collect plastic from the ocean and introduce it into a line of 6 vacuum cleaners. An ambitious campaign with a great idea behind it. The different pieces of plastic will be formed together to look something like the rendering below. More can be found at Vac From the Sea.

Something about the old school beat meats futuristic beat gets me. And also that she just seems to emanate this nonchalant sexiness in her videos.

New USA Mens Soccer Team Kits

Just in time for the world cup in South Africa, these new designs from Nike are classy and clean. The only complaint I ever have with the jerseys is the USA soccer logo...which looks like something out of a 1993 SEGA game.
