Greetings from Hong Kong

Im back into blogging now, except I want to use this blog to post any cool design/art that I see during my time in Hong Kong. My initial reaction of this city is that of awe, and I am happy to see that as a city they embrace design as much as the next great city. So keep checking in, as I am gonna try and keep my eyes open...and bring my finds to you!

I am a fan of well designed bags. They are a product that can be as much form as it is function. This ruck sack by Head Porter looks large enough to carry a weekend trip on your back while traveling, and cool enough so that you don't look like a highway hobo.

Ian Pool - Superheroes

These photographs take a more humorous look into the lives of superheroes. I mean, they can't be fighting crime all the time, can they? More comic heroes and villains doing ordinary things, can be seen at www.ianpool.com

This set of jewelry really does makes you take a second look. The bracelet form imitates a watch in order to encourage the owner to "forget about time, and instead enjoy life."

LEGO architecture release!

Yes, you are seeing right. Lego has branched out into something amazing. They released a new series called LEGO Architecture. The first to be shown to the public was replicas of several houses from the world famous Frank Lloyd Wright, including the Guggenheim and Falling Water. Growing up with Lego's myself, I am happy to see them branching out into a more sophisticated and upscale series, meant for possibly a totally different market. I was beginning to get tired of the same old pirate, Star Wars, and Medieval themes...and I feel that those of us who did grow up with Legos will have a greater appreciation for this more mature theme.

Louis Vuitton in Hong Kong

As a part of a temporary exhibition at the Hong Kong museum of art, Louis Vuitton's "pour la creation" brings together art works from both American and Chinese artists. After recently watching a documentary on Marc Jacobs (the lead designer behind LV), I have become convinced that the brand really does have a passion for the arts. Would it stop me from buying a fake bag on the street? Not quite.

New Air Yeezy Release with Limited edition Shirt from Qubic

For the new release of the Air Yeezy's in New Zealand, Qubic collaborated with Nike to create a limited edition set of dri-fit shirts just for the occasion. Only 40 are being made. The shoe itself differs from the other releases due to its new khaki color and the strap, which lacks the stamped "Y"s that are usually present. I would love that shirt, mainly because out of all his lyrics..."where are you yeezy" seems to always stand out in my mind.

Burberry Prorsom Fall/Winter 09

I'm a fan of the neutral and classic colors that Burberry has included into this line of iconic menswear. You really can't go wrong with a nice trench or a rugged gray and well fit blazer.
